What? Introduction to Wellness SNiPs

Welcome to the first edition of Wellness SNiPs!

This will be a short format wellness blog to help kickstart you into a “well-style” that works for you.

The headers will be the TL;DR summary statements of the post. While Wellness SNiPs will be written in short-format, if you’re REALLY pressed for time just read the headers which will give you the what, why, and how summarized.

Why? To improve health and wellness.

This section will give you the reasons why changing the ‘what’ matters to your health.

There is so much information today, lengthy studies, multiple moving parts, this diet or that diet – in short too much information to synthesize and apply to everyday life.

The truth about achieving wellness is adopting one new healthy habit at a time. Slowly and surely your health will improve and the habits won’t feel like you are depriving yourself, but rather empowering your life.

This approach is for you if:

  • Every diet you’ve ever been on has failed.
  • You’re looking for optimal health and wellness that can be sustained over a lifetime in order to mitigate the chances of chronic disease.
  • If you’re interested in improving the quality of your life day by day.

How? One small habit at a time.

This section will give tips and tricks on how to achieve the ‘what’ from the first section.

The weight management market worldwide is upwards of $215 billion dollars with 30% of the global population being obese or overweight(1).

In a metric where you DON’T want to be in first place, the U.S. leads the way with 70% of the population being obese or overweight. Spending an estimated $70 billion dollars this year alone on weight loss products and services(2,4).

Costs associated with chronic diseases (cardiovascular disease, cancer, obesity, diabetes, arthritis, Alzheimer’s, and epilepsy) will be well over a trillion dollars, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and that encompasses only the direct medical costs, but doesn’t include costs from lost productivity (3).

We can avoid a majority of those expenses and live a full life free of disease if we incorporate small healthy changes which add up over the years.

As we all know, if you don’t have your health, everything else goes by the wayside.


This section will address the common mistakes and misconceptions surrounding each of the topics while providing ways to get around them.
